ION Fashion Event Empowers Youth

UPDATE 2/7/19:

Due to inclement weather conditions predicted this weekend, ION Fashion Event will be postponed. Ticket holders are encouraged to contact F-Factor President Ellen Young directly at ellen@f-factor.org.

Press Release from F-Factor Website:

Well, we never thought this would happen in February!

Due to the current snow storm predictions for the area, the biggest storm since 1996, we have decided to reschedule the ION Fashion Event for a later date in the interest of safety. The new date will be determined and announced in the very near future.

Based on the results of the snowstorm on Monday, our number one priority for our participants, donors, attendees, volunteers and vendors, is safety. With the ION event being our primary source of funding for programs, Fashion Workshops and Ruby Room, we are determined to ensure that we continue to serve our youth and hope to see you at a more perfect date in the spring!

If you have purchased tickets, these will be automatically transferred to the future date and we sincerely hope you will be able to attend. If you have questions, please reach out to ellen@f-factor.org. Stay warm and safe friends!

Original Article:

This Saturday evening, local non-profit F-Factor will host the ION Fashion Event which serves as both fashion show and fundraiser with the goal of empowering youth through fashion. It will be an intimate event with only 200 seats available and suitable for all ages.

This will serve as F-Factor’s sole fundraising event for their two programs: The Fashion Workshop and Ruby Room.  Which is why the Executive team reached out to five of Seattle’s established designers to help them create a fashion show that celebrates youth and teens from disadvantaged and abusive circumstances.

Each designer has been given the task of creating three original looks using upcycled garments from Ruby Room’s donations inventory.  These looks will be judged by a panel looking for workmanship, originality, presentation and use of materials. After the winner has been announced, all 15 garments will be auctioned live to those in attendance for their chance to own a piece of one-of-a-kind Seattle fashion.

But more importantly, everyone involved will be supporting the ongoing efforts of a non-profit organization whose sole focus is reaching disadvantaged and abused youth and teens with a message of hope and healing.

The kind of competition where truly everyone wins.

F-Factor is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization based in Seattle, Washington. It was founded in 2008 by Ellen Young whose goal was and remains to serve the social and emotional needs of children in foster care.

Ruby Room was acquired by F-Factor in 2016 and remains dedicated to providing upscale formalwear at no cost to families. This has proven especially helpful for quinceañeras, during prom season, and many other milestones in which the experience of seeing oneself in a different light proves genuinely transformative. Ruby Room serves all teens however they choose to self-identify.

The ION Fashion Event is open to the public and suitable for all ages. It will take place Saturday, February 9th @ 6:30pm at the Nordic Museum.
